CodeShift Terminal — Privacy Policy
1. Introduction and Your Consent
myGIGlife INC. ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") publishes CodeShift Terminal (the "App"), an SSH terminal, SFTP file manager and code editor for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what the App does with information. By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to it. Our separate app, CodeShift Keyboard, has its own Privacy Policy.
2. Summary
The App has no account, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect, receive, or sell any personal information. The App connects only to the servers you add. Everything it stores stays on your device.
3. Network Connections
The App has the Android internet permission for one purpose: to open the SSH and SFTP connections you start to servers you choose, including any jump host or port forward you configure. Those connections go directly between your device and your server. We are not a party to them and do not see them. The App sends nothing to us or to any other third party.
4. Information Stored on Your Device
To work, the App saves the following on your device only:
- your saved hosts, including host names, user names, passwords, SSH private keys and pinned host key fingerprints, encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore. A key you generate or import never leaves your device;
- command suggestions (optional, on by default): the commands you run are remembered per host so they can be suggested while you type. They are encrypted on your device. Password prompts, full-screen programs and lines typed into them are not recorded. You can turn this off or clear it in Settings;
- snippets (saved commands) you create, encrypted on your device;
- recent files in the code editor: file names and paths only, never file contents; drafts of unsaved edits, kept on your device;
- your settings, such as theme, font size and the screen the App opens on.
Uninstalling the App removes everything it stored. A backup file you export (Section 6) is stored where you put it and is not removed by uninstalling.
5. App Lock and Biometrics
The optional app lock uses Android's fingerprint, face or screen-lock prompt. The App only receives the result (unlocked or not). It never receives or stores your fingerprint, face data or screen-lock PIN.
6. Backup Files and Importing
If you choose to export a backup, the App writes your hosts and keys to a file in the place you pick with Android's file picker, encrypted with a passphrase you set. We cannot recover the passphrase. Anyone who has the file and the passphrase can read its contents, so keep both safe. You can also import hosts from an OpenSSH config file you choose; only that file is read.
7. Notifications and Background Service
While an SSH session or file transfer is open the App shows an ongoing notification and runs a foreground service so Android keeps it alive. The notification shows the host name and user, and transfer progress, and hides host names on the lock screen.
8. App Store Purchases
The App is a paid app with a one-time price and no in-app purchases or subscriptions. The purchase is handled by Google Play under Google's terms. We receive no payment details.
9. No Sale or Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, lease or share personal information, because we do not receive any.
10. Third-Party Services
The servers you connect to are operated by you or by third parties you choose, and their handling of your data is governed by their own policies. Google Play handles distribution and payment.
11. Children
The App is a developer tool and is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
12. Security
Saved hosts, passwords, keys, command history and snippets are encrypted on your device with the Android Keystore. Your device's security is still your responsibility: use a screen lock and keep your device up to date. Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot restore it if you lose your device and have no backup.
13. Your Rights
Because we do not collect or hold personal information about you, there is no data for us to access, correct, port or delete. You control everything the App stores in its Settings (clear command history, delete hosts, keys and snippets) or by uninstalling it. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version and date will be published at this address.
